Registering sales: search, barcode and till categories
How to add items to the cart using search, a barcode scanner, the camera or category buttons – and how to change quantities, add a note and remove lines.
A sale starts when you add the first item to the cart. You can find items in four ways: search, a barcode scanner, the device camera or the category buttons. When everything is registered, tap «Betal» (Pay).
Before you start
- The shift on the register is open. See Opening the till and starting the day.
Adding items
With category buttons and product tiles
- Tap a category in the row above the products. «Alle» (All) shows the whole range.
- If the category has sub-categories, an extra row appears. Choose a sub-category or «Alle i …» (All in …).
- Tap the product tile. The item is added to the cart.
If the product has several variants (marked for example «3 var.»), or you need to fill in additional information, a window opens where you choose under «Velg variant» (Choose variant), adjust «Antall» (Quantity) and tap «Legg til» (Add).
The grid shows the first products. Scroll down to load more, or tap «Vis flere» (Show more).
With search
- Tap the «Søk produkt, SKU eller strekkode...» field (search product, SKU or barcode).
- Type a name, SKU or barcode. Matches appear in the grid as you type.
- Tap the right product.
If you type a barcode by hand and press Enter, it is treated as an ordinary search – the item is not added automatically.
With a barcode scanner or the camera
- Barcode scanner (USB or Bluetooth): Scan the item. It goes straight into the cart, even when the cursor is in the search field.
- Camera: Tap the camera button in the search field («Skann strekkode / QR» – scan barcode / QR) and hold the barcode in front of the camera. Use «Fokus» if the picture is blurred.
If the till cannot find the item, «Fant ikke varen» (Item not found) is shown with the code you scanned. If the item exists but cannot be sold at the till, it says «Varen finnes, men er ikke tilgjengelig i kassen» (The item exists but is not available at the till). The message disappears by itself after a couple of seconds.
Several of the same item
Tap «× 1» to the right of the categories, choose a quantity (for example 6) and «OK». The next item you tap or scan is added with that quantity. The multiplier then returns to 1.

Changing the cart
- Quantity: Use − and + on the line, or tap the number and enter the exact quantity.
- Note: Tap the speech-bubble button («Merknad» – note) and type a text to print on the receipt, for example «Gaveinnpakning» (gift wrapping). Tap «Lagre» (Save).
- Removing a line: Tap ✕ on the line, or swipe the line to the left («Fjern» – remove).
- Line discount: Tap the % button. See Discounts on a line and on the whole sale.
If you remove the last item in the cart, the till asks whether you want to cancel the sale. A started sale cannot simply disappear – it must be paid, parked or cancelled.
Good to know
- Stock status: A dot and a number on the product tile show the stock level. Out-of-stock items are greyed out but can still be sold. When you tap one, you get the «Utsolgt» (Sold out) question and can choose «Selg likevel» (Sell anyway) – stock then goes negative.
- Cancelling the whole sale: Tap «Annuller salg» (Cancel sale) under «Betal». Choose a reason if you like (for example «Kunde ombestemte seg» – customer changed their mind) and tap «Annuller salget». A cancellation receipt is printed and the action is logged in the journal.
- Reloading the page does not lose the sale – the cart is restored.
- The till categories are set up under «Kasse (POS)» → «Kassekategorier». See Till categories – setting up the till buttons.
- The Android till app works the same way: search, scan with the camera or a barcode scanner, a category row and product tiles.
Frequently asked questions
The scanner types digits into the search field instead of adding the item.
See Barcode scanner for setup and troubleshooting.
The item is not in the till. Can I still sell it?
Yes, with «Fri pris» (open price) if you have access. See Open price (miscellaneous item).
