POS categories – setting up the till buttons

Choose which categories appear as buttons at the till, in what order, with what name, colour and icon – and give different tills different layouts.

At the top of the till there is a row of category buttons. The first one, «Alle» (All), shows the whole range. After it come the categories you have chosen. With the POS categories («Kassekategorier») you decide which categories are shown, the order, and the name, colour and icon of each button. The setup applies to both the web till and the POS app.

A category layout is a complete list of buttons. All tills use the default layout, but you can create your own layouts – for example «Kafé» and «Butikk» – and choose a layout per till.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage tills.
  • The categories themselves are created under «Katalog» (Catalogue) → «Kategorier» (Categories), see Categories and brands. POS categories change nothing in the webshop.

How to do it

Arrange the buttons in the default layout

  1. Go to «Kasse (POS)» → «Kassekategorier» and click «Rediger» (Edit) on the default layout.
  2. The first time, you are asked whether you want to start with everything hidden. Choose «Skjul alle og velg selv» (Hide all and choose myself) if you only want a few buttons, or «Behold alle synlige» (Keep all visible).
  3. Switch the «I kassen» (At the till) toggle on or off for each category.
  4. Change the order:
    • Click «Endre rekkefølge» (Change order), drag the rows where you want them, and click «Ferdig» (Done).
    • Or use «Flytt opp» (Move up), «Flytt ned» (Move down) and «Til toppen» (To the top) on the row.
  5. Click «Rediger» on a row to set «Visningsnavn (valgfritt)» (Display name, optional – max 40 characters), «Farge» (Colour) and «Ikon» (Icon).
  6. Click «Forhåndsvisning» (Preview) to see the button row as the till will show it.

Change many at once

Tick several rows and choose a bulk action: «Vis i kassen» (Show at the till), «Skjul i kassen» (Hide at the till), «Sett farge» (Set colour) or «Sett ikon» (Set icon). The «Synlige» (Visible) and «Skjulte» (Hidden) filters help you find the right rows.

Create a separate layout for one till

  1. Under «Kasse (POS)» → «Kassekategorier», click «Nytt oppsett» (New layout).
  2. Give the layout a «Navn» (Name), for example «Kafé».
  3. In «Start fra» (Start from), choose «Tomt oppsett» (Empty layout) or a copy of the default layout.
  4. Arrange the buttons as described above.
  5. Go to «Kasse (POS)» → «Kasser» (Tills), open the till and choose the layout in «Kategorioppsett» (Category layout) under «Funksjoner» (Features). If the field says «Standard (felles oppsett)» (Default – shared layout), the till uses the default layout.

You can also use «Dupliser» (Duplicate) in the list of layouts to copy an existing layout.

Good to know

  • «Alle» is always first and cannot be hidden, moved or renamed.
  • New categories: When «Nye kategorier vises automatisk i kassen» (New categories appear automatically at the till) is on, new categories are added at the end of the layout and shown straight away. If you switch it off, new categories are added hidden, and you decide when to show them.
  • Hide rather than remove. «Fjern fra oppsettet» (Remove from layout) is only available when new categories are not added automatically – otherwise the category would simply come back.
  • Subcategories are not shown as separate buttons in the main row. If you tap a category that has subcategories, you get an extra row with «Alle i …» (All in …) and each subcategory.
  • «Bookbart» (Bookable) is a separate button for bookings. It only appears on tills where bookings are in use, and only for staff with access to bookings.
  • «Produkter i kassen» (Products at the till) shows how many published items in the category are available at the till. A category with 0 items is still shown if it is visible – hide it if you like.
  • Search and category: When you search at the till, you search the whole range, and the category selection is reset.
  • Shopify: Categories marked «Fra Shopify» (From Shopify) get their name and contents from Shopify, but order, visibility, display name, colour and icon are controlled here. The «Utenfor Shopify-utvalget» (Outside the Shopify selection) badge means the items in that collection are not synchronised.
  • Deleting: The default layout cannot be deleted, and neither can a layout that a till is using.
