Setting up the webshop

A checklist for getting the webshop ready to sell – company details, look, delivery, payment, legal pages, products and domain.

Owner/manager Back office Last updated 09.10.2026

The webshop comes with Cmerce and uses the same products, customers and payment methods as the rest of the system. This article is a checklist: it shows the order we recommend and links to the articles that explain each step in detail.

Before you start

  • You need access to the settings you are going to change. Appearance and delivery require the permission «Utseende og merkevare» (Appearance and branding), legal pages require «Juridiske sider» (Legal pages), and payment methods require «Betalingsmetoder» (Payment methods). The shop owner has every permission.
  • The webshop is available on the shop's standard subdomain from day one. You can connect your own domain later.

How to do it

  1. Company details and logo. Go to «Innstillinger» (Settings) → «Bedrift» (Company) → «Butikkprofil» (Store profile). Fill in the «Firmaopplysninger» (Company details) tab – company name, organisation number, address, phone and e-mail – and upload a logo and pick colours on the «Utseende» (Appearance) tab. The details appear in the webshop footer and on receipts.
  2. Appearance and content. Go to «Innstillinger» → «Nettbutikk» (Webshop) → «Utseende og innhold» (Appearance and content). Here you choose the theme, font, front page and social media links. See Appearance, skins and content.
  3. Delivery. Go to «Innstillinger» → «Nettbutikk» → «Levering» (Delivery) and choose whether you offer home delivery, in-store pickup, or sell digital goods only. See Shipping, in-store pickup and digital goods.
  4. Payment. Go to «Innstillinger» → «Salg og betaling» (Sales and payment) → «Betalingsmetoder», and switch on at least one payment method for the «Nettbutikk» channel. See Payment methods – overview and setup.
  5. Legal pages. Go to «Innstillinger» → «Nettbutikk» → «Juridiske sider» and adapt the privacy policy, terms of sale and right of withdrawal. See Right of withdrawal, terms and privacy.
  6. Products. A product appears in the webshop when its status is «Publisert» (Published) and the «Nettbutikk» channel is active under «Tilgjengelighet (salgskanaler)» (Availability – sales channels) on the product. For physical goods, «Krever frakt» (Requires shipping) must be switched on (under «Automatisering»), otherwise the customer gets no delivery options at checkout. See Creating a product.
  7. Domain. If you want to use your own domain, for example myshop.no, connect it under «Innstillinger» → «Nettbutikk» → «Domener» (Domains). See Your own domain.
  8. Test a purchase. Open the webshop, add an item to the cart and go through checkout. Check that shipping, VAT and the total look right before you press «Bekreft kjøp» (Confirm purchase).

Good to know

  • Hide the shop before launch. Under «Utseende og innhold» → the «Markedsføring» (Marketing) tab you will find «Skjul butikken fra søkemotorer» (Hide the shop from search engines). The shop is still open to visitors, but Google does not index it. Remember to switch it off when you launch.
  • Online sales are not cash sales. Webshop sales are not covered by the kassasystemlova (the Cash Register Systems Act) the way till sales are. See What is a cash sale – and what is it not?.
  • Payment is taken on delivery. Card payments in the webshop are reserved when the customer orders and captured when you fulfil the order. See Capturing payment and fulfilling the order.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the webshop's address?

Under «Innstillinger» → «Nettbutikk» → «Domener» you can see every domain the shop is available on. The domain marked «Primær» (Primary) is the main address.

Can I run a webshop without using the till?

Yes. The webshop and the till are independent of each other. You can use either one, or both.
