Your own domain
Connect your own domain to the webshop with a CNAME record, make it the primary domain and keep track of the SSL certificate.
Your webshop is always available on a standard subdomain at Cmerce. If you would rather have customers shop at myshop.no, you connect your own domain. You keep the standard subdomain either way – it acts as a fallback.
Before you start
- Only the shop owner has access to the domain settings.
- You must own the domain and have access to its DNS settings at your domain registrar (for example Domeneshop, One.com or GoDaddy).
How to do it
- Go to «Innstillinger» (Settings) → «Nettbutikk» (Webshop) → «Domener» (Domains).
- Under «Egendefinert domene» (Custom domain) you will see the box «DNS-oppsett kreves» (DNS setup required) with the address to point your domain to.
- Log in at your registrar and create a CNAME record for the domain pointing to the address shown in the box.
- Back in Cmerce, type the domain in the «Domene» (Domain) field, for example
myshop.no, and press «Legg til domene» (Add domain). - The domain now appears in the list under «Domener». Once the DNS change has propagated, press «Be om sertifikat» (Request certificate) to get an SSL certificate (the padlock in the browser).
- When the certificate shows «Sertifikat utstedt» (Certificate issued), press «Gjør til primær» (Make primary) to make the domain the webshop's main address.
The badges in the domain list

Changing the standard subdomain
Under «Fallback-subdomene» (Fallback subdomain) you can rename the standard subdomain, for example from an automatic name to myshop. Type the new name and press «Lagre» (Save). If you are logged in on the old subdomain yourself, you are taken to the new one.
Good to know
- Primary and fallback domains cannot be deleted. To remove a custom domain, first make another domain primary, then press «Slett» (Delete).
- If the page shows «Hostingplattform er ikke konfigurert» (Hosting platform is not configured) at the top, domains cannot be added at the hosting provider yet. Contact Cmerce.
- You can have several custom domains, for example both
myshop.noandwww.myshop.no. Each domain needs its own CNAME record.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to move my domain to Cmerce?
No. The domain stays with your current registrar. You only add a CNAME record pointing to Cmerce.
Does a custom domain affect the till and the admin panel?
You can log in to the admin panel on any domain in the list. The till and the webshop work as before.
