With Mobil the customer uses her own phone as the "screen". She needs no app and no account. Here you can see what the customer does, what you need to put up, and what to do when something happens.
Before you start
Set up self-checkout and a virtual till first. See Self-checkout – overview and setup.
How the customer shops
- The customer scans the QR code on the poster with her phone camera.
- She presses «Kom i gang» (Get started) and scans the products with the phone camera, or searches and picks them. Prices include VAT. Nothing is reserved while she shops.
- She presses «Betal» (Pay) and scans the QR code on the sticker by the terminal. If the location has only one self-checkout till, she does not need to scan again.
- On the payment page she types in her mobile number and presses «Betal». The number is used only to send the receipt. The country code starts on Norway, or on the country the phone's language suggests; foreign customers can pick their country or type the number with +. Only now is the purchase registered on the till and the terminal made ready.
- She holds her card to the terminal. The amount is shown on the phone. Until the card has been read she can press «Avbryt» (Cancel), and the basket is kept.
- She chooses a receipt: «Send på SMS» (Send by SMS) or «Skriv ut» (Print). If she makes no choice, the receipt is sent by SMS after 30 seconds.
- The phone shows «Ferdig» (Done) with a green check mark, the time and the number of items. If you show order numbers, the pick-up number is here too. The customer can show this screen if a member of staff asks, for example at the exit.
Poster and sticker
- The poster (A4) goes by the entrance. It has your logo, shop name, the QR code and six simple steps. Download it under «Innstillinger» → «Kasse» → «Selvbetjening» with «Last ned trykkmateriell» (download printed matter) → «Plakat til inngangen». Choose the location the poster is for. The terminal stickers are downloaded from the same button.
- The sticker goes on or next to the terminal. It has the QR code for that exact till, the till's name and the text «Skann for å betale her» (Scan to pay here). Download it from the till: «Kasse (POS)» → «Kasser», then «Last ned klistremerke (PDF)».
- If the location has only one self-checkout till, the poster uses a QR code that goes straight to that till.
- Rotate QR code: if a sticker has gone astray, use «Roter QR-kode» on the till. The old sticker then stops working. The customer sees «QR-koden er utløpt – skann koden på terminalen». Print and put up a new sticker.
- Downloading the sticker again gives the same QR code. Old stickers stay valid until you choose «Roter QR-kode».
Receipt and printing
- If the customer chooses «Send på SMS», she gets an «Elektronisk salgskvittering» (electronic sales receipt). That is the original.
- If she chooses «Skriv ut», the original is printed at the terminal.
- If she asks for the other form afterwards, it becomes a KOPI (copy). No more than one original and one copy are given from the phone. The customer is referred to a member of staff.
- Printer not ready? The sale still goes through. If the customer chose print and the printer has not printed, she can press «Send på SMS i stedet» (Send by SMS instead). The SMS is then sent as the original and the paper receipt is withdrawn. If the printer has already printed, the SMS becomes a copy.
Good to know
- Terminal busy? The customer sees «Terminalen er opptatt – vent litt» (The terminal is busy – wait a moment), and which other terminals are free.
- Price or selection changed while the customer was shopping: she sees the new total and must confirm before anything is paid. Products you have removed from the selection are removed from her basket.
- The customer closes the browser after paying: the purchase is completed anyway, and the receipt is sent by SMS after a short time.
- Payment declined, cancelled or takes too long: the basket is kept so the customer can try again. The sale is cancelled in the journal and nothing is charged.
- Stuck payment: if it says «Betalingen er registrert – en ansatt hjelper deg» (The payment is registered – a member of staff will help you), staff must resolve it under «Kasse (POS)» → «Kasser» (see Troubleshooting the till).
- Wrong mobile number: the SMS went to the wrong person. A member of staff can send a copy to the right number.
- Privacy: the number is deleted automatically 24 hours after the purchase. The journal shows only a partly hidden number.
- Switched off during the day: new visits get "not found". Payments already under way are completed.
