Receipts: printing, e-mail and copy receipts
How the customer gets the receipt – on paper, by e-mail or by text message – and how to print a copy receipt. The law allows only one paper copy per sale.
After every sale the till shows the receipt on screen. From there the customer can have it on paper, by e-mail or by text message. If the customer needs the receipt again later, you can print one copy or send it again digitally.
Before you start
- For paper receipts the till needs a connected receipt printer. See Connect a receipt printer.
- Whether the receipt prints automatically is set per till under «Kasse (POS)» → «Kasser» (Tills) → choose the till → «Maskinvare» (Hardware) → «Skriv ut kvittering automatisk» (Print receipt automatically). The switch is on by default.
How to give the customer the receipt
Paper
- Automatic printing on: The receipt prints by itself when the sale is paid.
- Automatic printing off: Tap «Skriv ut kvittering» (Print receipt) on the receipt screen if the customer wants it on paper.
E-mail or text message
- Type the customer's e-mail address or mobile number in the field under «Send kvittering — e-post eller SMS» (Send receipt – e-mail or SMS). The till works out whether it is an e-mail address or a phone number.
- For a mobile number: choose the country code with the flag in front of the field if the number is not Norwegian.
- Tap «Send». You get a confirmation such as «Kvittering sendt på SMS til …» (Receipt sent by SMS to …).
- Tap «Neste kunde» (Next customer) to move on.
If there is a customer on the sale, the field is often filled in with the customer's contact details already.

Original receipt and copy
Every sale has one original receipt. The original is the first receipt the customer gets, however it is issued: print, e-mail or text message. Anything issued after that is a copy and is clearly marked «KOPI» (COPY).
- If the original has already been printed, you cannot print it again. The till replies «Originalkvitteringen er allerede utstedt. Bruk «Skriv ut kopi» for en kopi» (The original receipt has already been issued. Use «Skriv ut kopi» for a copy).
- If you send the receipt by e-mail or text message after the original was given, it automatically becomes a copy.
How to print a copy receipt
- Tap «Mer» (More) → «Historikk» (History). The list shows the sales in the current shift on this till.
- Tap the sale.
- Tap «Skriv ut kopi» (Print copy).
If the sale is from an earlier shift or another till, scan the QR code on the customer's receipt (or use «Finn ordre» – Find order), and tap «Kvittering» (Receipt) in the summary that appears.
Once the copy has been printed, the till shows «Papirkopi er allerede skrevet ut for denne kvitteringen.» (A paper copy has already been printed for this receipt.) and the button disappears. You can still send the receipt as a copy by e-mail or text message.
What is on the receipt?
An ordinary sales receipt is headed «Salgskvittering» (Sales receipt) and shows, among other things, the shop's name and organisation number followed by «MVA», the receipt number, date and time, item lines, VAT by rate, payment method and the till ID (kassapunkt). For card payments it shows the terminal's transaction number, and for Vipps the Vipps reference. There is normally a QR code at the bottom.
Other kinds of receipt have their own, enlarged heading: «Returkvittering» (Return receipt) for returns, «KOPI» on copies, «Treningskvittering» (Training receipt) in training mode and «Utleveringskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP» (Delivery receipt – not a receipt for purchase) for credit sales. If you cancel a sale you have started, a cancellation receipt is printed.

- The QR code on the receipt: The customer can scan it with a phone to get the receipt digitally (shown as a copy). You can scan the same code at the till to find the sale again, for example for a return.
- The printer is offline: The sale always completes, even if the printer does not respond. The receipt prints when the printer is back. If the printer has been away for a long time (around two hours), old receipts are not printed automatically – send the receipt by e-mail or text message instead.
- Gift cards sold on the sale are also shown on the receipt screen under «Gavekort utstedt» (Gift card issued), with code and expiry date.
- The till app (Kasse-appen) on Android has the same options: send the receipt by e-mail or text message, and print one copy from the sales history.
Frequently asked questions
The customer wants the receipt by e-mail as well as on paper. Is that possible?
Yes. Send it from the receipt screen. Because the original has already been printed, it is sent as a copy.
Why can't I print another copy?
The law allows only one paper copy per receipt. Once it has been printed, you can only send the receipt digitally.
