Call-out number on the receipt

Print a short, rotating order number (for example 1–99) at the bottom of the receipt so you can call the customer when their order is ready.

If you run a café, a takeaway or any business where the customer waits for their order, Cmerce can print a large order number at the bottom of the receipt. The number runs from 1 up to a limit you choose (99 by default) and can restart every day. You call the number out when the order is ready. Web orders can draw from the same series, so a web number never clashes with a number from the till.

Before you start

  • Cmerce must have switched the feature on for your shop.
  • You need the «Utseende og merkevare» (Appearance and branding) permission to change the setup.
  • The order number is off until you switch it on yourself.

How to do it

  1. Go to «Innstillinger» (Settings) → «Kasse» (POS) → «Ordrenummer» (Order number).
  2. Under «Kasse», switch on «Skriv ordrenummer på kassakvitteringer» (Print order number on till receipts).
  3. If you also want numbers on web orders, switch on «Vis ordrenummer på nettbestillinger» (Show order number on web orders) under «Nettbutikk» (Webshop), and under «Når får nettbestillingen nummer?» (When does the web order get its number?) choose either «Når bestillingen legges inn» (When the order is placed) or «Når betalingen trekkes» (When the payment is captured).
  4. With both till and webshop switched on, you can turn on «Felles nummerserie for kasse og nettbutikk» (Shared number series for till and webshop). Then choose «Sted for felles nummerserie» (Location for the shared series) – it is used when the web order has no pickup location.
  5. Under «Nummerserie» (Number series), enter «Høyeste nummer før start på 1» (Highest number before restarting at 1), for example 99.
  6. Choose whether the series should «Start på 1 hver dag» (Start at 1 every day). It resets at midnight, Norwegian time.
  7. Type an «Etikett» (Label) – the text shown under the number (default «Ordrenummer»). Check the result under «Forhåndsvisning» (Preview).
  8. Click «Lagre endringer» (Save changes).

The order number settings with preview

From the next sale the number is printed in a black box with white text at the bottom of the receipt, below the thank-you text. It also appears on the on-screen receipt after the sale, and in the till app (Kasse-appen) on Android when the sale is complete and in the sales history.

Switch the number off on one till

If you have a till where you do not want a number (for example a shop counter next to the café), open the till under «Kasse (POS)» → «Kasser» (Tills). In the «Funksjoner» (Features) section, set «Ordrenummer» to «Alltid av» (Always off). «Auto» follows the shop setting, and «Alltid på» (Always on) numbers this till even if the till setting is otherwise off.

Good to know

  • Each shop (location) has its own series. Two tills in the same café share a series, so they never hand out the same number at the same time.
  • Only ordinary sales get a number – including credit sales (the utleveringskvittering, delivery receipt), since the goods still have to be handed over. Returns, refunds and training sales never get one.
  • The copy receipt shows the same number as the original.
  • The number is not the receipt number. The legally required sequential receipt number is printed where it always was. The order number is only for calling out – it is not part of the electronic journal or the SAF-T export.
  • Numbers repeat. When the series reaches the highest number it starts again at 1, so do not use it as a reference to look up a sale.
  • Web orders numbered «Når betalingen trekkes» do not show the number on the confirmation page or in the order confirmation, because the amount is usually captured only when the order is fulfilled. The number then appears on later emails and on the order in the customer's account.
  • If you change the highest number mid-day, the counter carries on where it was and wraps at the new limit.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no number on the receipt?

Check that «Skriv ordrenummer på kassakvitteringer» is on, and that «Ordrenummer» is not set to «Alltid av» for the till. Remember that returns and training sales never get a number.

Can I restart the series in the middle of the day?

No, there is no button for that. With «Start på 1 hver dag» the series starts at 1 at midnight.
