Training mode

Practise on the till without real sales. Training sales produce a training receipt, are not counted as revenue and are shown separately on the Z-report.

Training mode lets new staff practise on the till without making real sales. You register items and "pay" as usual, but no money is taken and the sale is not counted as revenue. Every training sale gets a treningskvittering (training receipt), and the till records both the training sales and when training mode is switched on and off.

Before you start

  • The till must be open (a shift must be running). Otherwise you see «Åpne kassen før du endrer treningsmodus.» (Open the till before changing training mode.)
  • You need the permission «Åpne og lukke kasseskift» (Open and close till shifts). The owner always has it. Without it you see «Du har ikke tilgang til å endre treningsmodus.» (You do not have access to change training mode.)

How to do it

  1. Tap «Mer» (More) at the bottom of the till. The «Flere handlinger» (More actions) menu opens.
  2. Tap «Treningsmodus» (Training mode) – «Øv uten ekte salg» (Practise without real sales).
  3. An orange, pulsing «TRENING» (TRAINING) badge now appears at the top of the till.
  4. Register items as usual and tap «Betal» (Pay). The payment window shows «TRENINGSKVITTERING — Ingen ekte betaling» (TRAINING RECEIPT — No real payment).
  5. Tap «Registrer trening» (Register training). The till produces a training receipt.
  6. When you are done, tap «Mer» and then «Avslutt trening» (End training) – «Salg telles ikke – trykk for å avslutte» (Sales are not counted – tap to end).

In the till app (Kasse-appen) on Android you find «Treningsmodus» and «Avslutt trening» in the menu of additional actions. The app confirms with «Treningsmodus PÅ» (Training mode ON) or «Treningsmodus AV» (Training mode OFF).

Good to know

  • No real payment. On the web till you can only register a training sale as cash, and it does not open the cash drawer.
  • Not revenue. Training sales are not counted in sales, payment methods or the cash count. On the X- and Z-reports they appear separately, under «Trening» (Training), with count and amount.
  • Everything is recorded. Training sales are signed and written to the electronic journal, and the till records who switched training mode on and off, and when.
  • Training mode is remembered. It belongs to the shift, so it stays on even if you reload the till. Remember to end training before you serve real customers.
  • No returns. A training sale cannot be returned or refunded.
  • Not everything can be practised. In training mode you cannot sell gift cards or punch cards, and you cannot park sales.
  • No call-out number. Training sales never get an order number, so real numbers are not used up.

Frequently asked questions

Do training sales count towards revenue?

No. Training sales are not revenue. They only appear on their own line on the X- and Z-reports and in the journal.

I served a real customer in training mode. What now?

The sale was not registered as a real sale. End training and register the sale again as an ordinary sale, so the customer gets a proper sales receipt.
