Special receipts: copy, return, training, delivery and preliminary
The law has separate rules for copy receipts, return receipts, training receipts and delivery receipts. Here is what applies to each, and what Cmerce prints.
An ordinary sales receipt is not the only receipt the till produces. When you print a copy, accept a return, practise in training mode or sell on invoice, the receipt must be clearly marked so nobody can mistake it for an ordinary purchase. Here we go through each type.
Overview
| Receipt | When | Marking in Cmerce | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kopikvittering (copy receipt) | Printing a receipt that has already been issued | «KOPI», text at least 50 % larger | § 2-6 fourth paragraph and § 2-8-6 |
| Returkvittering (return receipt) | Return and refund | «Returkvittering» at the top | § 2-8-5 |
| Treningskvittering (training receipt) | Sale in training mode | «Treningskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP», text at least 50 % larger | § 2-8-6 |
| Utleveringskvittering (delivery receipt) | Credit sale invoiced later | «Utleveringskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP», text at least 50 % larger, own number series | § 2-8-7 |
| Annulleringskvittering (void receipt) | A started sale that is cancelled | «ANNULLERINGSKVITTERING» and «SALG ANNULLERT – INGEN BETALING GJENNOMFØRT» (sale cancelled – no payment made) | § 2-6 third paragraph and § 2-7 |
| Foreløpig kvittering (preliminary receipt) | – | Does not exist in Cmerce | § 2-8-6 |
«IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP» means «not a receipt for purchase». All the sections are in kassasystemforskrifta (the Cash Register Systems Regulations) (Lovdata).
Copy receipt
How Cmerce does it:
- The original receipt is issued once – the first time it is printed, e-mailed or sent by SMS.
- After that you can print one paper copy with «Skriv ut kopi» (Print copy). If you try again, the till refuses.
- Every printed copy is recorded in the electronic journal, and the number and amount appear on the X- and Z-reports.
- If you send the receipt by e-mail or SMS after the original has been issued, it is always marked KOPI. It is not a printout and does not count towards the limit of one printed copy.
- The copy shows exactly the same content as the original.
Return receipt
How Cmerce does it:
- A return is always a new, signed transaction that refers back to the original sale. The original sale never changes.
- The return receipt has «Returkvittering» at the top, and Cmerce prints it in enlarged text.
- The paper receipt has fields for «Tlf.nr:» (phone number) and «Signatur:» (signature) for the customer to fill in. In the till app (Kasse-appen) on Android the customer can instead sign on screen and type in their phone number, and the signature then appears on the receipt.
- The number of return receipts and the amount appear on the X- and Z-reports.
What you must do yourself: Make sure the customer signs and gives a phone number when you refund money, and keep the receipt with the signature if it is on paper. See Returns and refunds.
Training receipt
How Cmerce does it: In training mode every receipt gets the marking «Treningskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP» in enlarged text. Training sales are signed and journalled but are not counted as turnover. They are shown separately on the X- and Z-reports, and they cannot be returned. Switching training mode on and off is journalled too. See Training mode.
Delivery receipt
How Cmerce does it: A credit sale never produces a sales receipt, only a delivery receipt with its own running number. It has no payment line but shows that the sale has been invoiced, with the due date. See Credit sales and payments under the law.
Void receipt
A sale you have started to register cannot simply disappear. If you cancel it with «Annuller salg» (Cancel sale), the cancellation is recorded in the journal and a void receipt is printed, marked «SALG ANNULLERT – INGEN BETALING GJENNOMFØRT». The number of cancelled sales and the amount appear on the X- and Z-reports. The same happens to parked sales still waiting when the till is closed. See Parking and resuming sales.
Preliminary receipt and STEB receipt
The Regulation also has rules for preliminary receipts (for example a bill before payment) and STEB receipts (for tax-free sales). Cmerce does not have these functions. A sale is either completed with a sales receipt or cancelled.
In short
- Copy: at most one printed copy, marked «KOPI» in large text.
- Return: «Returkvittering» at the top, the customer's signature and phone number on refund.
- Training: «Treningskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP», not turnover.
- Credit sale: «Utleveringskvittering – IKKJE KVITTERING FOR KJØP» in its own number series.
- Cancelled sales produce a void receipt and appear on the reports.
- All special receipts are journalled and counted on the X- and Z-reports.
