If you already have your items in another system, you don't have to enter them again by hand. Which route you choose depends on where the items are today.
| Your items are in … | How to bring them in | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify, and you want to keep using Shopify | Connect Shopify to Cmerce. Items are synchronised continuously, and Shopify stays the master source. | Shopify |
| WooCommerce, and you are moving over completely | Upload a database dump from WooCommerce under «Importer» (Import). | Moving from another system |
| Another system, or nowhere yet | Enter the items in Cmerce. | Creating a product |
Items from WooCommerce
Items are part of the full WooCommerce import, together with customers, orders and subscriptions. The import itself is described in Moving from another system. Here is what applies to the items.
In the review
In the «Produkter» (Products) step of the review you see each item from WooCommerce. For each item you choose:
- «Opprett nytt produkt» (Create new product) – the item is created in Cmerce, or
- an item that already exists in Cmerce – the WooCommerce item is then linked to it, and no new item is created.
Linking is useful if you have already entered some of the items yourself.
What is transferred
- Name and description.
- Price, as it is in WooCommerce.
- SKU. If the item has no SKU in WooCommerce, it gets an SKU starting with «WOO-».
- Barcode from WooCommerce's GTIN field.
- Variants: variations in WooCommerce become variants under the same item.
Imported items get the status «Publisert» (Published).
Check this afterwards
- VAT rate: All imported items get the standard rate of 25%. Tick items with a different rate in the product list and use «Sett MVA-klasse» (Set VAT class).
- Prices: The price is stored as a VAT-inclusive price. If you entered prices excluding VAT in WooCommerce, the prices must be adjusted – for example with Bulk price changes.
- Categories: Put the items into categories with the bulk action «Legg til i kategorier» (Add to categories).
- Images: Upload images to the items.
- Stock: Stock levels are not transferred. Switch on «Lagerstyrt» (Stock managed) and enter the quantity on items you want to count. See Stock and stock management.
- Sales channels: Check under «Tilgjengelighet (salgskanaler)» (Availability – sales channels) that the item is active where it should be sold.
Good to know
- The price from the import is stored in the price history with the source «WooCommerce-import». The previous-price line in the webshop only appears once there are 30 days of price history in Cmerce, see Previous price and before price.
- Items from Shopify cannot be edited freely in Cmerce, because Shopify is the master source. Items from the WooCommerce import are ordinary Cmerce items after the import and are edited like any other.
