Bulk price changes
Change prices on many items at once with a rule, an Excel sheet or a grid – with preview, scheduling, undo and Shopify price rules.
With «Prisendringer» (Price changes) you change prices on many items in one go – for example "reduce all items in the Summer category by 20% and round to ,90", or a new price list from Excel. You always see a preview first. No prices change until you click «Bruk nå» (Apply now), or until the time you have scheduled.
Before you start
- The feature must be switched on for your shop by Cmerce.
- You need the «Endre priser» (Change prices) permission. The owner always has access.
- Bulk changes only change the base price (the price for all customers when buying 1 unit) and «Før-pris» (before price). Customer group prices and quantity prices are not touched.
How to do it
With a rule
- Go to «Katalog» (Catalogue) → «Prisendringer» and click «Ny regel» (New rule).
- Give the change a «Navn» (Name), for example «Summer sale».
- Under «Omfang» (Scope), choose which items to change: «Alle produkter» (All products), «Kategorier» (Categories), «Stikkord» (Tags), «Merker» (Brands) or «Valgte produkter» (Selected products). You can also limit by «Produktstatus» (Product status).
- Under «Endring» (Change), choose whether to change «Pris» (Price) or «Før-pris», and choose an «Operasjon» (Operation): «Øk med %» (Increase by %), «Senk med %» (Reduce by %), «Øk med kr» (Increase by kr), «Senk med kr» (Reduce by kr) or «Sett til kr» (Set to kr). For the before price there is also «Fjern før-pris» (Remove before price).
- Choose «Avrunding» (Rounding): «Ingen» (None), «Hele kroner» (Whole kroner) or «Prisende» (Price ending, for example ,90 or 9,00), and the «Retning» (Direction) of the rounding.
- Click «Lag forhåndsvisning» (Create preview).
- Review the list: old price, new price, change and any warnings. Click «Endre regel» (Edit rule) if something needs adjusting.
- Click «Bruk nå» – or «Planlegg» (Schedule) and choose a time.

With Excel
- In «Prisendringer», click «Last ned Excel» (Download Excel) and choose which items the sheet should contain.
- Fill in the «Ny pris» (New price) and/or «Ny før-pris» (New before price) columns. Leave a cell empty if the price should not change. «0» or «-» in «Ny før-pris» removes the before price.
- Don't change the «Variant-ID» column.
- Click «Last opp Excel» (Upload Excel) and choose the file (xlsx or csv). You get a preview.
- Click «Bruk nå» or «Planlegg».
With the grid
- Click «Rediger i tabell» (Edit in grid).
- Look up the items and type the new price and/or new before price directly in the grid.
- Click «Bruk nå» or «Planlegg».
From the product list
Tick the items under «Katalog» → «Produkter» (Products) and choose the bulk action «Endre priser». A price change is created for exactly those items.
Undo a price change
Open a completed price change and click «Angre prisendring» (Undo price change). A new preview is created that sets the prices back. Nothing changes until you click «Bruk nå».
- A price change can be undone once, and an undo cannot be undone.
- Prices that have been changed again after the price change are marked «Konflikt» (Conflict) and left alone.
- Prices created by the price change (the variant had no price before) cannot be undone.
Good to know
- Statuses: «Utkast» (Draft), «Planlagt» (Scheduled), «I kø» (Queued), «Pågår» (In progress), «Fullført» (Completed), «Fullført med avvik» (Completed with exceptions), «Feilet» (Failed) and «Forkastet» (Discarded). Large changes run in the background, and you are notified when they finish.
- Scheduled changes are carried out within 5 minutes of the chosen time. «Avbryt planlegging» (Cancel schedule) turns the change back into a draft.
- Conflict: If someone else has changed a price after the preview was created, it is not overwritten but marked «Konflikt».
- Warnings: You get a warning when a change is over 50%. A rule that would give 0 kr skips the item, unless you have explicitly chosen to set the price to 0 kr.
- Numbers in Excel are read the Norwegian way: «1.299» is 1,299 kr. Ambiguous numbers such as «0,500» are rejected.
- Items never included: open-price items, booking items, gift cards and punch cards. Their prices are managed elsewhere.
- Subscriptions: Running subscriptions keep the price they agreed. The new price applies to new subscriptions.
- The till: Completed sales and receipts are never changed. An open basket or a parked sale gets the new price at the next recalculation, just as with an ordinary price change.
- Previous price: Every changed price is stored in the price history with the source «Masseendring» (Bulk change), so the webshop's førpris stays correct. The option «Sett før-pris til gammel pris ved prisnedsettelse» (Set before price to the old price when reducing) fills in your own «Før-pris» – read Previous price and before price.
- History: A price change cannot be deleted or edited once it has been carried out. Drafts that were never used are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Shopify items and Shopify price rules
If your shop is connected to Shopify, Shopify is the master source for the price, and Cmerce never sends prices to Shopify. Under «Shopify» in the price change you choose what happens to Shopify items:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| «Lag Shopify-prisregel (anbefalt)» (Create Shopify price rule – recommended) | The rule is saved as a Shopify price rule and applied to the price from Shopify every time it comes in – also when the Shopify price changes later. Default for rules. |
| «Overstyr lokalt (fast pris)» (Override locally – fixed price) | The price is set locally, and the item no longer follows the Shopify price. Default for Excel and grid. |
| «Hopp over» (Skip) | Shopify items are not changed. |
You find the rules under «Katalog» → «Shopify-prisregler» (Shopify price rules). The topmost active rule that matches an item applies. Drag the rules to change the order, switch them on and off with «Aktiv» (Active), or click «Bruk reglene på nytt» (Apply the rules again) after changing categories or tags locally. If you switch off or delete a rule, the items get the Shopify price back.
