Split payment with several payment methods
How to let the customer pay one sale with several payment methods, for example gift card and card, or cash and card. What is possible depends on whether you use the web till or the till app.
Sometimes a customer wants to pay for one purchase with more than one payment method. The till still records it as one sale with one receipt, with each payment method specified. What you can combine differs between the web till and the Android till app.
In the web till: gift card plus one other payment method
In the web till (and the till app in the browser) a split payment is tied to gift cards. If the gift card does not cover the whole amount, the customer pays the rest with one other payment method.
- Tap «Betal» (Pay) and choose «Gavekort» (Gift card).
- Type or scan the code under «Gavekortkode» (Gift card code) and tap «Slå opp» (Look up).
- The till shows «Tilgjengelig saldo» (Available balance) and «Trekkes fra gavekort» (Deducted from gift card). If the balance is lower than the amount, «Rest å betale» (Remaining to pay) is shown.
- Under «Betal resten med» (Pay the rest with) choose «Kontant» (cash), «Kort» (card), «Manuell» (manual) or «Vipps» (Vipps only if it is available at the till).
- Tap «Bekreft betaling» (Confirm payment). If you chose Vipps, the request for the remainder is sent to the customer first.
See Gift cards at the till – selling and redeeming for more about gift cards.
In the Android till app: «Del betaling»
In the till app you can split the payment freely between several payment methods.
- Tap «Betal», then «Del betaling» (Split payment) below the total.
- At the top you see «Å betale» (To pay), «Betalt» (Paid) and «Gjenstår» (Remaining).
- Choose the payment method for the first part: «Kontant», «Gavekort», «Manuell» or «Kort».
- Enter the amount under «Beløp» (Amount), or tap «Resten» (The rest) to use everything remaining. For a gift card the amount is optional – the till uses the lower of the balance and what remains.
- Tap «Legg til betaling» (Add payment). The part is added to the list and «Gjenstår» goes down.
- Repeat until «Gjenstår» is 0. The till shows «Hele beløpet er dekket.» (The whole amount is covered.)
- Tap «Bekreft betaling».
If you added a wrong part, tap «Fjern» (Remove) next to it in the list.
Rules in the till app
- Card always comes last. Card is marked «siste del» (last part) and takes everything remaining. The sale is completed when the terminal approves. If the card is declined, nothing is registered and any gift-card part is released.
- Only one card part per sale.
- Vipps can only be used as the last part after exactly one gift card («rest av gavekort» – remainder of gift card).
- Card and Vipps cannot be combined in the same sale.
- Card together with gift cards: only one gift card can be combined with a card payment. Without a card you can use several gift cards.
Good to know
- Rounding (øreavrunding) applies only to the cash part. The gift-card and card parts are always exact, and so are the sale's total and VAT.
- The cash drawer opens when the sale has a cash part.
- If you cancel before the sale is confirmed, nothing is registered and the items remain in the cart.
- Returning a split-paid sale: The gift-card part is credited back to the gift card first, the rest to the other payment method. See Returns and refunds.
- Invoice cannot be combined with other payment methods.
Frequently asked questions
Can the customer pay half in cash and half by card in the web till?
No, not in the web till today. Use «Del betaling» in the Android till app, or take the whole amount with one payment method.
