Bookkeeping suggestion from the end-of-day report

If you have not connected an accounting system, Cmerce shows a suggested voucher for each Z-report that you or your accountant can enter by hand. The feature is in beta.

If you have not connected Cmerce to an accounting system, the end-of-day report (Z-rapport, also called dagsoppgjør) is not booked automatically. To make manual entry easier, you can open a bookkeeping suggestion (bokføringsforslag) for each Z-report: a ready-made voucher with accounts, VAT codes, debit and credit.

Before you start

  • The suggestion is only shown when the shop does not have a connected accounting system with a company selected. If you have connected Fiken, the end-of-day report is booked automatically and the button is hidden.
  • You need access to the Z-reports.

How to do it

  1. Go to «Kasse (POS)» (POS) → «Z-rapporter (dagsoppgjør)» (Z-reports – end of day).
  2. Find the Z-report for the day and register you want to book.
  3. Click «Bokføring (beta)» (Bookkeeping) on the row.
  4. The window «Bokføringsforslag – dagsoppgjør (Z-rapport …) (beta)» shows the voucher date, reference and voucher lines.
  5. Enter the voucher in your accounting software with the same date and reference.
  6. Download the Z-report with «PDF» on the same row, and attach it to the voucher as documentation.

Reading the suggestion

The table has the columns «Konto» (Account), «Tekst» (Text), «Mva-kode» (VAT code), «Debet» (Debit) and «Kredit» (Credit). Debit and credit always balance in «Sum».

LineSideDefault account
Payments per payment method (cash, bank card, Vipps etc.)DebitFor example 1901 Cash, 1580 Bank card
«Gavekort innløst» (Gift card redeemed)DebitGift card liability
Sales revenue excluding VAT, per revenue accountCreditFor example 3000 (25 %), 3030 (15 %), 3040 (12 %)
«Utgående mva 25 %» etc. (Output VAT), one line per rateCredit2700 Output VAT

  • The account numbers are default suggestions from NS 4102 (the Norwegian standard chart of accounts), and the VAT codes are SAF-T standard codes (3 for 25 %, 31 for 15 %, 33 for 12 %, 5 for zero-rated and 6 for exempt).
  • Revenue is shown excluding VAT, with VAT on its own line per rate.
  • A gift card sold is a prepayment and is shown as a liability, not as revenue.
  • Where it says «velg konto» (choose account), the item has no default account – for example a custom revenue group or manual payment. Choose the account together with your accountant.
  • If there were more returns than sales on a day, the sides are swapped, but the voucher still balances.

Cash variance

If the cash count showed a difference, it appears under «Kassedifferanse (eget bilag)» (Cash variance – separate voucher): cash variance (default 7790) against the cash account. A shortage puts the cash variance on the debit side, an overage on the credit side.

Good to know

  • The suggestion does not change the Z-report. The Z-report is the authoritative end-of-day record. The suggestion is only a help for booking it.
  • No sales: If it says «Ingen salg å bokføre denne dagen.» (No sales to book this day), there is nothing to enter.
  • One Z-report per register. If you have several registers, each has its own end-of-day report and its own suggestion.
  • Online sales are not included. The suggestion only covers the till. Online sales are documented with their own sales documents, see Sales documents for online sales.
  • To avoid manual entry, connect Fiken. The end-of-day report is then booked automatically and the suggestion disappears. See Connect Fiken.
